Scranton, Pennsylvania- Ida L. Castro, JD, MA, vice president, Community Engagement and Equity of The Commonwealth Medical College (TCMC), has been awarded the 2011 Multicultural Leadership Award on Thursday, September 22, 2020, by the National Diversity Council.

The award was presented during the 2011 Second Annual Pennsylvania Diversity and Leadership Conference held at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Also recognized at the conference were the contributions of numerous corporate, small-business, academic and community leaders who have championed the value of diversity as a business imperative in Pennsylvania.

The Multicultural Award is designed to recognize individuals of color who have made a difference through their achievements and exemplify the ability to excel in their field. The award recognizes leadership excellence that positively impacts our work environment and the health of our communities through organizational change, commitment, advocacy, and innovation.

The National Diversity Council seeks not only to uphold and promote the principles of diversity and leadership but also seeks to recognize those individuals who personify those principles.
