Medical students organize Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk to benefit Friends of the Poor

Scranton, Pennsylvania –On Saturday, November 13, The Commonwealth Medical College’s Class of 2013 will present Turkey Trot, a 5K Run/Walk in downtown Scranton. The event will also feature a Tot Trot for those 13 years of age and under. Proceeds of the student’s first community fundraiser will benefit Friends of the Poor annual Thanksgiving community dinner for senior citizens and other adults.

Check in for the Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk begins at 7:30am in the main lobby of Lackawanna College, 501 Vine Street, Scranton.  The Tot Trot steps off at 8am and the 5K Run/Walk begins at 9am. T-shirts will be provided to the first 250 registered participants. Race day registration fee is $20 (ages 14 and above) or participants can pre-register for $15. Registration for the Tot Trot is $5 or participants may bring two canned goods to be donated to the food drive. The 5K Run/Walk route begins at TCMC’s temporary location at Lackawanna College and ends at TCMC’s Medical Sciences Building at 525 Pine Street. 

Turkey Trot participants are also invited to bring food and clothing donations the morning of race day.
