TCMC names associate dean of curriculum

Scranton, Pennsylvania – Susan M. Perlis, EdD, Assistant Dean for Evaluation and Assessment of The Commonwealth Medical College (TCMC), has been named Associate Dean of Curriculum. In her new role, Dr. Perlis will oversee the development and evaluation of curriculum for the Doctor of Medicine (MD) and the Masters of Biomedical Sciences degrees (MBS) in the Department of Curriculum Development and Assessment.  Dr. Perlis is also responsible for the advancement of

TCMC’s departments of Anatomical Services, Clinical Skills and Simulation Center, and Medical Library.   
“In her position as Assistant Dean for Evaluation and Assessment, Dr. Perlis has made significant strides in establishing high standards in TCMC’s curriculum development and student evaluation and assessment programs,” stated Robert D’ Alessandri, MD, TCMC President and Dean. “With her direction, TCMC has developed a culture of continuous improvement that will continue to benefit from her knowledge and expertise in medical education curriculum, Dr. D’ Alessandri continued.

Prior to this appointment, Dr. Perlis worked as an administrator and faculty member in higher education for more than 30 years. She was a tenured faculty member at Marywood University and an associate professor in the Department of Education and served as program director for the Master’s and Doctorate programs in higher education and administration. She holds an MS degree in Curriculum and Instruction Supervision and EdD in Education Administration with a Specialization in Higher Education Administration and has completed the Harvard Macy 2010 Educators in Health Professions Program.
