Scranton, Pennsylvania – On Tuesday, August 25 from 5 to 9pm, The Commonwealth Medical College (TCMC) and Steamtown Mall will sponsor a Fun and Food Event to welcome the (MD) medical doctor and (MBS) masters of biomedical sciences students to the community. 

The event is open to the public and will feature special discounts and free samples from mall and food vendors as well as activities such as a pedestal joust and bull riding. The Admissions Office of TCMC will also be on hand to provide information to those interested in pursuing careers in medicine or the biomedical science and healthcare fields. All college students are invited to meet with the faculty and admissions office staff.

All TCMC students will receive a $25 gift card and all faculty, staff and administration will receive a $10 gift card by showing their identification badge. Future events at the Steamtown Mall will include TCMC Monday’s, the first Monday of every month,  when faculty, staff, and students can show their ID at customer service and receive a $10 gift certificate.

Background Information: The Commonwealth Medical College, one of the nation’s newest medical colleges, welcomed its charter class of sixty-five medical students and Masters of Biomedical Sciences (MBS) students in August 2009. The College has campuses in Scranton, Wilkes-Barre and Williamsport and currently has over 113 full time employees and over 557 clinical faculty members. For the academic years of 2009 and 2010, students will use temporary facilities on the Lackawanna College campus.
